Tuesday 26th December – Windsurf ** River Orwell at Levington Marina
– sunny and mild.
Foil – 18.64 knot max, 17.55 knot ave, 1.67 knot hour, 16.03 knot mile,
20.39 km., 12.50 knot alpha.
Starboard Freeride 150 and a Tushingham Storm 6.5.
Did not expect to sail today but checked the wind around nine and it looked
OK for a foil at Levington, would be nice to get out before we have two
days of strong winds and rain especially as it was lovely and sunny! So a
quick breakfast and arrived at the marina at 10.30 as the squibs were
preparing for a Boxing Day race and got some lovely pics:) I quickly set up
the foil bord and rigged my 6.5 launching with the tide very high, it was
nice to be out on the Orwell with several boats today, plus several birds
overhead, even a boat moored fishing by the container ships! I had a few
nice flying runs but the breeze dropped steadily and when the tide turned
it made it even harder to fly and in the end struggled back, I had stayed
dry until I stupidly caught a mooring bouy rope but I untangled it quickly
and headed in as now getting cold! Not a great session, only good in
patches but still nice to be out in the sunshine!
